Love Aaj Kal creates a storm at the box office with the help of an unknown Brazilian Beauty!

Imtiaz Ali’s latest release, Love Aaj Kal, has created a storm at the box-office and is set to be one of 2009’s biggest earners thanks to audiences rushing to cinemas worldwide to see what all the fuss is about.

With an innovative narrative, chart topping soundtrack and A-list cast, the film as everything needed to make a thorough Bollywood ‘masala’ film yet it is a fresh face in the film which seems to be creating all the buzz. Giselle Monteiro, a 19 year old Brazilian model, plays the role of Harleen Kaur, a loveable, shy, quiet village girl. Giselle’s appearance, and more importantly, her subtle acting style have been appreciated immensely.

Saif Ali Khan and Imtiaz Ali have both confirmed since the release of the film that their decision to keep the actresses identity secret until the release of the film was intentional as they felt people could be put off seeing the film on realisation that a Brazilian model was playing the role of a traditional Punjabi girl.

Giselle originally auditioned for the role of Jo, Saif’s girlfriend in the latter half of the film, but after consideration, she was selected to play the role of Harleen.
