Ramadhan affects the Indian Film Industry’s Box-Office Collections
30 Aug 2009
The Islamic holy month of Ramadhan, in which muslims across the world fast from sunrise till sunset for 30 days, has affected the collections of newly released Bollywood films.
Kisaan, Daddy Cool, Yeh Mera India and Quick Gun Murugun all released this Friday and none of them have taken good collections at the box office due to a large majority of muslims staying away from cinemas during Ramadhan.
These trends have been seen previously in Bollywood and are the reason for many producers and distributors deciding to release their films on the Eid weekend when they know many Muslim film addicts will be hitting cinema halls nationwide.
This years Eid releases include Dil Bole Hadippa, Wanted, What’s Your Rashee? and Do Knot Disturb.
