Aliya Khan, a self-taught artist from Essex is set to take the world of fashion and beauty by storm. What began as a childhood hobby has now developed into the passionate pursuit of fulfilling a dream of bringing colour and sparkle to not only to the visual arts but to personal beauty. Within a relatively short time she has drawn on the themes of her paintings and converted them into small-scale paper and wire pieces, body painting and hair styling as well as designing and creating bespoke hair accessories.

Her experience in painting and intricately crafted gift items such as celebration cards has developed to include a professional beauty service specially made to order bespoke accessories.  Each design, whether it is a hair accessory or a body painting is vivid and original with great attention to detail. The recent addition of her hair and beauty service allows Aliya to enhance features using her own unique styles, sometimes a dramatic showstopper and sometimes an elegant bridal look.  To Aliya a painted body is a very powerful visual expression, not only aesthetically pleasing but a work of live art that can literally carry many ideas. Her body paint designs are applied mostly freehand and finished with high quality embellishments

A British-Bangladeshi Aliya has been interested in arts and fashion since childhood and for many years wasn’t able to pursue her dreams. Coming from a background in which the arts were not taken seriously as a viable career option, or recognised as a worthwhile pursuit did not stop her. Determined not to allow the lack of family support stand in her way Aliya began painting by setting up her canvas and easel wherever she could find the space. During the last four years she has showcased her large canvas paintings, mainly centred around images of eastern women in several exhibitions and taught numerous art and craft workshops where she has helped and inspired others to express their creativity.

Inspiration-wise Aliya is certain that there is inspiration all around. The beauty and emotion of a song she has heard or a poem she has read transfers over to blank canvasses or delicate handmade roses surrounded by crystals. Being an artist allows her an avenue to express herself and interpret ideas in a way that can lift not only her spirits but bring joy to many others.
