Agreed. I think that it is unfair to do that to a child who cannot yet express their opinion.

And, if HE can't deal with being called Batman, and doesn't want to change his own name, then he needs to think about whether or not its right to do it to another person who can't defend themself.

TBH i think it is a good idea, yeah there is a chance of his son getting picked on but with the amount of publisity he is getting he should be getting some money out of it and he can use that on the kid...the kid will always be indivdual and when he is older he canlike tell the world his story

I agree with smallness and melimoo.

It's original (as far as names go). All the other people who complain about it, why? It' not your kid. You're probably never gonna meet him. If you are happy with adding another Harry or something to the 50,000 already in the world, then make a page saying you'll name your son Harry.
This kid will literally be able to say he's the only living person with that name. And if he doesn't like it (would wouldn't?), he can always go by his middle name or last name. I know people who I've known for years, but never even knew their first real name. Everyone called them by nicknames.
I'd love to see that birth certificate though!

Honestly man, people going on and on about how horrible this is really need to think for a second. Does your name define you? No. Does anyone really care what your name is? No, it's just something you call somebody. If my name was batman I'd be stoked, I would have loved my first nametag for a job to say BATMAN in all caps for everyone to read. After all that though, it IS just a name. It'd be worse if his name was stinky, or dirtbag, or sleezy. Let it go, it's not a bad parenting issue. You may be the bad parent for thinking a childs brain is SO fragile that it can't handle having probably the coolest name in the world. Kids can handle more than you think. Get over yourself.

We got a while till Batman is born. I think the forum give Bat-dad our email addy's for the email cert.s big_smile

I personally think it's funny and just plain silly but it doesn't make me angry or anything. Maybe Batman will end up as one of the kid's favorite superheros and he'll think he has the most awesome name ever. He can go as Batman for Halloween and feel double special. I can just imagine him getting all excited about dressing up in his costume and going, "HAHA I'M BATMAN!" smile

I can't believe how much scrutiny you are getting over this!!! It's your child.. and if your wife has willingly agreed to this then she has more right than anybody to name her child that she is carrying and going to give birth to.. whatever she likes!! I mean think of all the stupid celebrity kid names these days.. Jermajesty.. APPLE.. Blanket??...  yeah.. Batman is much more awesome. & to all the ppl who are saying "oh he's gonna get made fun of.. he's gonna hate you for naming him that!!"... NO.. every kid gets "made fun of" or teased for SOMETHING at one point or another.. and seriously, what KID is gonna joke on BATMAN?! Plus, who CARES if other people don't like it??? We shouldn't be teaching our children to care what others think of them and to conform to society and "be like everybody else". If this guy is doing this just for attention or some silly FB poll then yeah, thats no good.. but if he's doing it for the right reasons and he genuinely wants to name his child batman then why not???
