Re: I will name my Son Batman If this page gets to 500,000

I think the kid would be known for his name, obviously. I wonder if people would keep track of him if he wasnamed Batman. Would it inspire people to name their kids Superman or Spiderman?

There are chances he would be teased. It is likely. If my name was Batman I'd have people call me "Bat" and not even let my closest friends know my real name >_>

I'd likely have it changed when I was old enough to legally do so. Guess it depends how the child grows up.

I don't really know if it is a bad idea, no one will until someone names their kid Batman and watches the outcome, which will take years.

If he names his kid Batman I really hope he gives him a decent middle name to use if he wishes, and I wonder how the mother feels about all of this..

Re: I will name my Son Batman If this page gets to 500,000

Some of you people are so.. snoddy. You're bitching about how wrong it is, and all this other load of garbage... But we all do the same thing. We name our children, and pets, after things we like or feel has a ring to it. So what if the guy wants to name his kid Batman? It's his choice, and obviously his wife (or girlfriend) is going along with it, otherwise he wouldn't be doing it to begin with. If it's not legal, then so be it, but if it is -- Get off his back about it.

A lot of kids don't like their names. And THEIR names are normal like Alice, Diane, David, Zach or something else. He could name his kid Greg and the kid could hate it. It's a KID.

Everyone always gets their panties up in a bunch over stuff that doesn't even concern them. We don't go around saying "omg you can't name your kid Elvis because that's copying someone else!" or "wtf you can't name your daughter Marilyn!" ... Really? It's the same concept.

Your points aren't even solid.

Is it possible that maybe commercial hype has gone a little too far?  What are our values for both a husband AND a wife to agree to name their child Batman?  If what, 500,000 people agree that it's cool?

I strongly urge this person to reconsider.  I think this says something about our current mental environment.  I think taking a few moments of silence and deep contemplation would really be a good idea.

I wish my parents had named me something cool like that. You really need to get over it. A different name doesn't make the kid a "horrible and shocking [devalued] life." That kid will probably be a badass because he has a badass name to live up to. don't think so negatively.

Re: I will name my Son Batman If this page gets to 500,000

Mostly posting so i can get an email of the birth certificate, but I personally think that doing such a thing is fun, awesome, and in the spirit of everything good and funny. The kid can always change his name when he gets old enough, and by that time he will have realized how awesome his name is.

Re: I will name my Son Batman If this page gets to 500,000

I think this is pretty cool. My son is a batman fanatic and would love for that to be his name!!! He has loved batman since he was 4 years old,(he is almost 11 now) with no signs of giving it up anytime soon!!!

Re: I will name my Son Batman If this page gets to 500,000

Yea man, fricken awesome. wish i had thought of that. how many hits you get so far? id like to see a copy of the birth certificate as well.

Seriously, have you heard some of the names that people give their children?! I am a labor and delivery nurse and trust me when I say that I've heard them all.
Batman for a name is nothing to be devalued for. This kid will most likely grow up thinking that he had the coolest dad ever to give him this name.
And as far as Batman dying down, get real, what world do you live in??? Batman has been around since the 1940s and the "hype" as you put hasn't gone away. Batman has more fans than ever!!

If you want to think about names that could "devalue" a child's life maybe think about all of these children that have the same exact name as 10 other kids in their class. Yep, that makes them feel REALLY special!!!

Seriously, get over your rightous self!!!

Let the guy do what he wants. It's his kid. If he wants to name it batman then that's his choice. He's going to do what he wants anyway so I don't know why people are whining about it. Just shut up. No one's telling you what to do with your life.

i have to agree here. the guy and his wife are in agreement about the name so lets all be on their side. I personally believe Batman is better than names like Bobby or John or Hatrack...(someone actually used that for a boys name.) Plus Batman is a beloved superhero who has stood the test of time and the name will outlive us all.

Oh come on , Batman isnt that bad .. just give him a normal middle name and call him that .  People have named their kids far worse .. like peaches , and apple , and lala , and with all the "uniqe" names coming out these days , i hardly think he'd get picked on for it.
go for it. he can always change him name at somepoint.
