Salman vs. Shahid... Round 2

Yesterday, we featured a story on the cold vibes given off between the two long-time rivals, Sallu Bhai and Shahid Kapur... well they're paths may have ended after the show but destiny was bound to bring them back face-to-face once again. The battle has just begun between the two loggerheads, as both their upcoming movies are set to release on the same day. As crazy and shocking is that might sound, what's twisted is the fact that Salman still invited Shahid to promote his new movie on his own game show. Wow, gotta respect the man for the effort but the indifference between the two was quite evident.

Both, Salman Khan's full-on action flick, Wanted and Shahid Kapur's fun and feel-good flick, Dil Bole Hadippa are slated for release on September 18. Ewwwhh, it's gonna get real ugly this September and it's gonna be tough competition between the two. Well, I suppose Salman has won the battle in the first round by giving an attitude to Shahid on his show and making him feel uncomfortable throughtout the show. But the battle is not over yet as round 2 of the face-off is about to begin. So, get ready to see some fireworks this September and remember to duck... You don't wanna be caught in the middle of these two.

By taking a look at each movie, both of them look very promising and exciting, as Shahid's DBH star the fresh new pair of Shahid Kapur and Rani Mukherjee for the first time and going by the promos, it seems like a fun, colourful and full of life movie that is set in the beautiful green fields of Punjab with celebration and bhangra tunes and a bit of cricket in between. The movie sees Rani in a complete new avatar and she is looking her best after a long time. She is set to play a double role of a man, teasing and tricking Shahid and also playing a woman by romancing with Shahid as well. Even though the movie will be Rani's show all the way, Shahid has a very important role to play, of an accomplished captian of a cricket team from England, who returns to India to captain his father's cricket team. Shahid has become an established actor with some great back-to-back performances such as the blockbluster, Jab We Met and the recently released hit film, Kaminey. He has got a lot of pressure on himself to churn out more successful ventures under his belt like his previous movies.

Now taking a look at Salman's crime action flick, Wanted, it sees Sallu Bhai in a full action mode and kicking badies after a real long time. In this movie, Salman plays a hardcore gangster who lives life on the edge and lives by his own terms. Salman is cast opposite the chirpy and cute, Ayesha Takia, who are also a first-time pair. The movie seems like a sleek and racey action thriller with  a lot of deadly stunts. The film relies entirely on Salman's shoulders, which should put a lot of pressure on him, due to the fact that most of his recent films have boomed at the box-office and he needs one hit real bad, to slot himself in the top position once again. But, no matter how many flops this man has given us, he still remaines the real rockstar and super kool dude of Bollywood.

Interestingly, both the movies are directed by first-time directors, while DBH is directed by a new directon, Anurag Singh who was an associate director of the super-hit movie, Dhoom 2, and Wanted is directed by a new yet familiar personality, Prabhu Deva. Yes, the tamil dancing sensation, Prabhu Deva has directed this bollywood movie.

So, let's wait and see which movie strikes gold at the box-office and which one takes the dust. Well, both the movies belong to completely different genres all together, so it's a far game. Both the movies promise to be a good enertainer and should be a good watch but the real test will be for the two actors battling it out for stardom. To find out who will win the second round of the face-off, we will have to wait and watch until September 18 to find that one out... til then keep it locked on KZ Entertainment to see how both the movies fair out and who comes out a winner.
