Yorkshire Fashion Week proves to be a big success!

 June 2009 saw the launch of Yorkshire Fashion Week, where clothes from a variety of retailers around the county were displayed to show the immense talent embedded in Yorkshire.

The show gave many upcoming designers an opportunity to showcase their creations and also provided rising models the chance to show their abilities to carry off a professional catwalk. Many of the designers were from notable universities and colleges in the county such as Leeds University, Huddersfield University and Leeds College of Art.

An award ceremony also took place on the gala event which showed appreciation towards all the hard work that goes into creating the clothes that were shown.

It is a shame, however, that the Fashion Week was not promoted as well as other fashion events that have taken place around the UK in the recent past and I hope the organisers work on this when planning Yorkshire Fashion Week 2010.
